mortal questions

 Is that all there is?

One day commemorating our mortality perhaps should be filled by a lecture from Camus, an excerpt of Ernest Becker's Denial of Death, and Peggy Lee's song "Is That All There Is?" played in recess.

And Father John Misty's Ballad of the Dying Man too, just for fun.

You see, diving into death is one tricky subject. My view on it too, changes from day-to-day. One day I could be as optimist as Martin Hägglund, convinced that knowing my time is finite is my fuel of living the best of my life. The other times, Ernest Becker could conversely ensure that the feeling is uncomfortable, paradoxical, and it is very well-understood that we are not equipped to face that.

Simon de Beauvoir's Ethics of Ambiguity is Nick Drake's One of These Things First.

Albert Camus' The Myth of Sisyphus - and perhaps other existentialism philosophies are largely Raphael Bob-Waksberg's Bojack Horseman.

Most of the days I revert to Camus.
