so.. what do you think of nowadays' situation?

| Yes, you know what this is. |
I'm not sure what took me quite a while to actually write this down. Let's see. I guess I was caught off-guard, like everyone else. Overwhelmed, at some points. Not sure about many things ahead. But maybe I should thank a friend that warned me about this back in February,
"This will only get worse. I have had 2-week supplies in my home, as advised. You should, too."
And all I could think of was how many times I have touched my face (of course, not yet washing my hands) since arriving at that overpriced café.
Oh, darling, what a vulnerable creature, we all are.
You see, what is unique about this situation is, this is unprecedented for all of us. Yes, you can't go to your parents, or professors, or whoever it is that you look up to, to seek their experiences. None of us have had this kind of situation in our life before. No guidebooks that will tell us what to do. This is a giant experiment for all mankind on earth.
Another thing is, when was the last time we are, globally, really are facing the same thing? As 2019 progressed, we know humans have a lot of issues. Be it wildfires, gender equality, income inequality,... All demanding our attention. Some fight for it, some couldn't care less. Even chaos in the Middle East or catastrophic natural disaster in other parts of the world, a big group of people somewhere else wouldn't be impacted. But this time, this time it sweeps us all. You're in home-quarantine? Guess what, so everybody else. (I tried to find out how many people right now are actually being mandated to stay inside, but couldn't find it - but you get the picture.) The fact that you're a 9-to-5 worker or a born-prince would not make you stay immune to the problem (although the major difference in the treatment you get, is a probability).
For the first time (in my lifetime, that is), not one of us, is spared.
Which give me this strange sense of unity. Well, a realization that this is an existential threat, of course, but an unidentified mixture of we-now-realize-we-all-are-in-the-same-boat is also another thing.
Having just said that, Harari wrote here that global collective action is critical to face this pandemic and I couldn't agree more. But can we depend on our leaders to do that?
Anyway, I meant to write about this whole
But it really makes me curious, how will this turn out? Major social beings like us, being mandated to stay inside... What would be of us? By now we have seen many scenarios simulating how the economies would look like, but how about our connectedness to each other? Social values? Mental well-being?
I guess this is the very example of 'times of uncertainties'. However, like everyone else, I just try to cope with it. If anything, this whole home-situation is an exercise for my self-discipline. Now that time is way more within my control (no traffics, no time spent going places, no unnecessary meetings), I have more responsibility in putting out the right portion for everything. Work out, write, read, think, work... Well, it's still less than a week since I'm staying home but let's hope the positivity keeps on running.
How many new geniuses will born with new masterpieces, now that everyone has more time within their controls?
Ok fellas, stay healthy, stay positive. It's ok not to follow the news all the time. Reach out to people and make some calls. And as those stoics would say, let's not focus on things beyond our control. Make sure we wash our hands and stay inside as much as we can.
Cheers.
